Good Works Count toward Salvation Lies Masquerading as Truth
“No one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin. But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood.” Romans 3:20-25a NIV
Five important truths: 1. We are all in a predicament where we cannot rescue ourselves. 2. None of us can be saved by obeying the law. 3. Salvation is not earned but received as a gift. 4. Only Jesus can give us this gift. 5. The salvation that he offers us literally cost him his life.
God’s righteousness is not about fairness but about grace. The ultimate issue for all of us: “What have you done with Jesus?”
It’s your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, he has turned away and will not listen anymore. Isaiah 59:2 NLT
The worship of worship is one of the biggest sins confronting the church today.
