12.19.10 What Does God Want for Christmas?

What Does God Want For Christmas?

I Thessalonians 4:1-5

No one is more disappointed at Christmas than God.

At the top of His Gift list is the desire that we live holy lives.

The grand purpose of God in the life of every person is sanctification. It is the birthright and gracious privilege of every man, woman, boy and girl who enter the Kingdom of God.

Reverence is at the heart of the meaning of holiness.

A.               To be sanctified means to be set apart for sacred uses.

God has set you apart to be used exclusively by Him for His purposes.

B.               To be sanctified means to be owned by someone else.

“God purchased you at a high price

I Corinthians 7:23 (NLT)

“God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors.  And the ransom He paid was not mere gold or silver.  He paid for you with the precious lifeblood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.”

I Peter 1:18-19 (NLT)

The value and significance of anything increases in direct proportion to the significance and importance of the owner.

C.               To be sanctified means to be spiritually healthy.

Health is to the physical realm what holiness is to the spiritual realm.

To be unholy is to be spiritually sick and spiritually retarded.

"To be holy is to be in tune with ones divine destiny.”

To refer to a Christian as being unsanctified is like referring to a husband as being unmarried.

“Don’t you know that your body is the  temple of the Holy Spirit, Who lives in you and was given to you by God?  You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price.  So you must honor God with your body.” I Corinthians 6:19-20 (NLT)
