God in Unexpected Places Experiencing God in Questions and Doubts Matthew 11:1- 6 #4 in series of 4
“Are you the Messiah we’ve been expecting, or should we keep looking for someone else?” Matthew 11:3
The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom. Like the crocus, it will burst into bloom; it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy. The glory of Lebanon will be given to it, the splendor of Carmel and Sharon; they will see the glory of the Lord, the splendor of our God. Isaiah 35:1-2
The spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release for the prisoners. Isaiah 61:1
Jesus told them, “Go back to John and tell him what you have heard and seen—5 the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is being preached to the poor. 6 And tell him, ‘God blesses those who do not turn away because of me.’ ” Matthew 11:4-5
Jesus’ message to John and to us:
1. Allow me to be the Messiah of your thoughts as well as your life. Quit demanding that I fulfill your ideas of who the Messiah is. “When people lose the guidance of God, they will turn to anything for guidance.” E. Stanley Jones 2. Don’t let your present situation cloud and distort your vision.
3. God has made us dependent upon each other to both give and receive his good news.
“What we have are the limited testimonies of limited men to other limited men about the limitless grace and power of Almighty God in Christ.” Paul Bassett
4. What have you seen God do? Tell it to others. What has God done for you? Don’t keep it a secret. Share it. |
