Jesus Intercedes for the Disciples & Us Ascension Sunday John 17:1-11 June 5, 2011
The word “shekinah” is based on a Hebrew word meaning “to tabernacle or dwell.” Or it could be translated “to pitch your tent” in the presence of others.
“I will put my dwelling place among you, and I will not abhor you. I will walk among you and be your God and you will be my people” Lev. 26:11-12
Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of the Old Testament shekinah glory.
“The Word (Jesus Christ) became flesh and made his dwelling among us; we have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14
“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being” Hebrews 1:3
“I have given them the glory that you gave me that they may be one as we are one.” John 17:22
“For we are the temple of the living God; As God has said: ‘I will live with them and walk among them and I will be their God, and they will be my people’” II Corinthians 6:16
He is “Christ in you the hope of glory.” Colossians 1:27
Are you enjoying in the privilege of that gift? Is His Holy Spirit alive in you? Is His fire burning on the altar of your heart? Is His presence evident in your life?
“O righteous Father, the world doesn’t know you, but I do; and these disciples know you sent me. I have revealed you to them, and I will continue to do so. Then your love for me will be in them, and I will be in them.” John 17:25-26
“ They all met together and were constantly united in prayer…” Acts 1:14
“He talked to them about the Kingdom of God.” Acts 1:3
God’s kingdom comes wherever Jesus is invited to be King. |
