Partnership With Sylvan Middle School
Your missions council partnered with the Sylvan Middle School PTA leadership and Barb Sandhorst, Sylvan counselor, on a Thanksgiving food basket project. Barb gathered information about 22 Sylvan families that needed help. The PTA had school families adopt each needy family, bringing food donations to PFCN. PFCN Missions donated $20 gift cards to each family to help them with perishable food for Thanksgiving. The PTA added $50 or $75 gift cards (depending on family size) for the families to purchase Christmas gifts. Once everything was staged, fifteen of the families came directly to PFCN to pick up their food, while seven families who lack transportation were blessed by home deliveries provided by PFCN families. We appreciate the office staff for helping coordinate all of this, the Missions Council for leading the project, and those who made home deliveries. This project is a great example of PFCN's strong partnership with Sylvan Middle School.
Christmas Card Exchange
Feel free to use the box in the Level 4 hallway to distribute your Christmas cards to regular PFCN attenders, and check for cards coming to you, too!
Our staff has once again collaborated to create an Advent devotional for you to use this Christmas season. Booklets are available for you to pick up at the Information Center. You may also download a pdf version at pfcn.org/advent. We hope this gift will prove to add depth and value to your Christmas celebrations.Chrismons
Offering envelopes for 2014 are available for pick-up in the foyer. If you want to begin using numbered envelopes, please indicate this on the attendance register as it is passed or call Carolyn Ballard in the church office. The numbered envelope system is important for maintaining accurate donor records. It assures that your gift is applied to your intended purpose, whether that is your tithe or a specific fund or pledge.
Save the Date!
Our children will present a Christmas musical called "We Three Spies" during the worship service on Sunday, December 15. We hope you'll plan to be here for that special morning and invite your friends!
This year, our Advent Conspiracy offering will go to the Arlington Church of the Nazarene in Arlington, Oregon. A few weeks ago, their sanctuary burned to the ground. Arson is suspected. This is particularly sad because this congregation was struggling to rebuild from a similar fire in July that was also the result of arson. Repair work from the July fire was nearing completion and they were hoping to have services inside the church by Christmas. Join us in praying for this grieving congregation and by giving a generous love offering. Please clearly mark your gift, "Advent Conspiracy."
In the case of inclement weather, you may check our website (www.pfcn.org) or call the church voice mail (503-297-6100) for the latest update on any schedule changes. Please note that if there is no website update or change to the voice mail, all activities will take place as scheduled.
